4 outfits to stay warm in with the right Italian leather shoes
By Paul Evans
It’s officially winter and the short, cold days and long, freezing nights can sometimes leave us feeling a bit uninspired when it comes to getting dressed. Who cares about how you look when the temperature is dropping closer and closer to zero? We totally feel you—but just in case you wake up in the morning and want to look good without freezing your balls off, here’s some inspiration for your cold weather wear, right down to the perfect pair of Paul Evans Italian leather shoes.
This outfit mixes high and low with woolen dress pants and a weatherproof parka. In order to balance the contrast, we’ve topped the look with a patch-elbow turtleneck—also a wool blend for exceptional warmth as well as style. We kept it simple with the accessories; a plain navy cap matches the elbow patches of the turtleneck. It’s subtle, but those with an eye for detail will catch on. Meanwhile, we tied in the utilitarian khaki green of the coat with actual Army/Navy socks. Finally, we finished the outfit with the Newman Chukka Boot in Marrone. Just like this outfit, the Newman Chukka is a mix of high and low. Its history lies within the military, but with our fine handmade craftsmanship it looks as high-end as any pair of Italian leather shoes.
You don’t have to sacrifice style in order to be comfortable. This casual cold weather outfit packs on the layers including a grizzly fleece jacket over a wool elbow-patch button up. Already it seems that elbow patches are a big trend this winter, so you might as well jump on board. Keep the rest simple with a clean-cut pair of jeans from Mott & Bow. This particular pair is the Slim Waverly in a light/medium blue. We finish the look with a basic ball cap and matching cotton socks to keep you warm from head to toe and tie it all together with a grey toggle coat you’ll wear again and again. As for the shoes—we thought this casual outfit needed our most casual shoe, so we went with The Legend High-Top Sneaker in Blue.
This outfit may look simple, but the materials will keep you warm no matter what. The Mott & Bow Skinny Crosby in dark blue stays close to the skin, keeping out airflow. That plain looking button up is actually made of flannel, so you’ll be extra cozy while still looking like a gentleman. The London Fog classic pea coat in camel is a wardrobe staple you’ll wear until you die. And with the right, high-end accessories including Hugo Boss socks and a perfect plaid scarf, you’ve got the classic winter look down. The best way to modern this outfit up? Pair the basics with the not-so-basic Olivier Single Monk Strap in Nero. It’s unique design will be the focal point for the entire outfit.
Skinny khakis and a sweater aren’t exactly revolutionary ensemble choices… and that’s the way we like it. Think of it as a blank canvas for you to create a masterpiece on. For us, that masterpiece includes a cozy forest-green cashmere scarf that adds a bit of masculine color and a pair of matching cable-knit socks to keep your feet warm. We finished the outfit with a luxe waxed leather jacket in dark brown that perfectly matches The Brando Semi-Brogue Oxford in Chocolate.
