Blake Construction
If your dress shoes were made in Italy, they were most likely made using the blake construction method. That simply means the sole, insole and upper are stitched directly together through a channel (shown above). It is the most common construction method in Italy, and for good reason. The advantage of blake construction is a lightweight shoe that provides superior flexibility. In other words, it's going to be real comfortable.
We live in New York City, so we're no strangers to walking. Comfort is extremely important as we journey through this concrete jungle we call home. When we began designing the Paul Evans collection, we focused on creating Italian dress shoes that weren't just beautiful, but comfortable and generally a pleasure to walk in. If you're looking for a stylish shoe you can wear all day long, check out our collection here.
